Kolkata, August 5, 2019: Mohun Bagan started their Calcutta Football League campaign with a very disappointing loss against Peerless Sporting Club by 0-3 margin. Kromah scored 2 goals and Lakshmikanta Mandi scored 1 goal for Peerless SC. It was raining heavily when the match started. The Mariners started well and created few chances in the beginning of the match from free kicks and corners but didn’t find the all important goal.

In the 21st minute of the match, Kromah scored the first goal for Peerless SC from a assist of Pankaj Maula. The Mariners created a lot of chances after trailing by 1 goal, but failed to convert it into a goal.

In the 37th minute mark, Mohun Bagan got two back to back corner kicks, both were cleared by Peerless defender Abhinaba.

In the half-time mark the Mariners made two changes, Sukhdev Singh was substituted by Imran Khan and Nongdamba Naorem replaced Azharuddin.

The Mariners started to attack in the beginning of the second half of the match as they missed few chances. In the 52nd minute mark a header from Salva Chammoro hit the post.

In the later part of the second half Peerless SC took control of the match as Lakshmikanta Mandi scored the 2nd goal from a through pass of Pankaj Maula. In the 79th minute mark Kromah scored the last goal for Peerless SC.

Bagan got a late penalty during the added times of the second half. But Bagan forward Chamorro’s weak shot was saved by the Peerless Goalkeeeper James Kaitan.

Kromah got the well deserved Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance. It was a bad day in office for Kibu Vicuna and his boys. Hope they will come back strong in the next match. Mariners will face ATK in a Durand Cup match on 08th August 2019 at Mohun Bagan Ground at 3PM.
