Mohun Bagan Aiming to Reclaim Top spot

Kolkata, September 11, 2019: Last weekend Kibu Vicuna’s team picked up a smooth 4-0 victory over George Telegraph to briefly go top of the table. However, Peerless’ 1-0 win over East Bengal coupled with wins for George Telegraph and Bhawanipore Club means that Mariners have slipped down to 4th spot in the table.

Mohun Bagan played arguably best of the season in the last round of CFL and demolished George Telegraph completely. Despite the difficult playing conditions Vicuna’s team maintained the short passing tempo and scored twice in each half. The Mariners will look to maintain the same momentum given how competitive this season’s Calcutta League has been. There are no major injury concerns in the squad right now. The team can also expect better playing conditions given that this match will be taking place at Kalyani Stadium.

Aryan, one of the oldest clubs in India find themselves in a spot of bother after picking up 5 points in 6 matches. They are near relegation zone and will be looking to improve their fortunes. Aryan began their CFL campaign with a loss to George Telegraph then bounced back with a fantastic 4-3 win against Peerless. They drew back to back matches against Kalighat MS and Mohammedan SC but have lost both of their last two matches.

Mohun Bagan face Aryan Club in the Kalyani Stadium on 12th September at 2.30 PM.
