Kolkata, August 27, 2019: Mariners suffered a disappointing defeat in Durand Cup final. The team will now shift their focus back to Calcutta League where Mohun Bagan are off to a poor start.

The Durand Cup final was a depressing night for both Mohun Bagan players as well as the thousands of fans who had gathered at the stadium. The chance of lifting first trophy under Kibu Vicuna went up in smoke due to a brace from Marcus Joseph.

If Mohun Bagan are to successfully defend the Calcutta League title they will need to get their campaign back on track. The Mariners are yet to win a match in this year’s CFL after a loss & draw in first two matches. Mohun Bagan failed to display their best football in slushy and narrow Mohun Bagan ground. Playing the next match in Kalyani can improve their fortunes.

Behala SS is coaches by Maidan veteran Raghu Nandi but are yet to win a match despite four attempts. They lost 2-1 to East Bengal and drew their matches against Southern Samity & Rainbow SC. Their match against Peerless was washed out.

Mohun Bagan take on BSS at Kalyani Stadium on 28th August.
